From your first daughter...
The Daddy I Remember
I remember your rough, callous hands, mangled fingers and nails that bespoke of hard labor and sacrifice...when mine was in yours, my world was alright...
I remember your smile...crooked, full-faced, genuine...when directed at me, I knew I'd done good!
I remember your eyes...clear, reflective, intent...often distant, as if you were seeing something no one else could...
and how you were never afraid to cry...real tears...
I remember your music...unpolished, self-taught, always at the ready...consistent as the sunrise...
I remember your strength...courage...daring others to go along to new experiences, adventures, higher heights...
I remember your faith...constant as life itself...
...even when you were in your darkest moments of struggle, you always a little extra faith to lend to someone who had lost theirs...
I remember your love for God and all things He made...somebody taught you well...and you tried your best to pass it on...
...but my favorite memory's yet to come...
...the day when we are reunited in eternal worship of the God you served gladly and excellently.

I have known Bro. Wade since I was a little girl. I remember one time Mom rushing me to the church because I had fallen down a flight of stairs and my right arm was visibly brojen above the elbow. Dad was offshore working. Bro. Wade anointed me with oil and prayed for me. Mom did take me in for exray and the Dr. Said the arm had been broken but fir for some reason the bone had mended very quickly. There fore no reason for a cast. We all know what happens thru power of prayer.
Spent many hours with The Lormand family, singing playing.
In 1973 while Bro. Henry Preston was preaching a Revival for us, I prayed through to the Holy Ghost at home one night. Bro.Wade baptized me the very next sunday after church. We did not have a baptistry in the church so he baptized me in the Plaquemine( I think) it was out by MawMaw Lormands house, which is where I spent lots of Sunday afternoons.
Love him and will miss him dearly.

Bro. Wade was a visionary. He is the first preacher I know of who rode his motorcycle to General Conference. He was original and unique. He raised a beautiful set of girls and came from a wonderful set of parents! I am sorry I can't be there but my spirit is there. Your loss is heaven's gain. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. I salute your Dad today!

In 1976 Bro Wade and I went shrimping on the Calcasieu River, south of the I210 bridge. We used a 16' funnel net. Of course, when we stopped the motor, the seagulls knew it was feeding time, and they gathered in huge numbers. Bro Wade taught me by his own experience what happens when they run into each other. He was not a pretty site that day. :)

I will never forget the countless hours spent in the Lormand home, always filled with tons of laughter, lots of music, singing around the piano with Bro. Lormand, fried chicken on Sundays, Lots of coffee, and his radiant crooked smile. Always insisting you could do something when you thought you couldn't. He inspired many. I know he is in heaven and God will have no happier ANGEL than Wade.
( Look Jesus, his Harmonica skills are not quite as good as his piano playing, so when you give him is instrument, stick to the piano or guitar!)

I remember "Uncle" Wade visits to see us in Dallas or Hot Springs being full of laughter and magic tricks when I was very young. My favorite trip of his was when he came in his red M G Midget sports car and would take me for a ride with the top down.
My his family, loved ones and friends find comfort in God and the good memories you made as you shared his life.

Sorry to hear about the lost of our friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and children. I remember so well growing up in the community and going to church at Kings Farm where Bro. Wade would ride a motorcycle up and down the gravel roads of the community standing on the seat and playing all kinds of tricks. He had an old lab named Gus that would climb a ladder and get the stick off the roof of the parsonage. Most of all he loved people, music, and God. He and my Uncle Jimmy Granger will be playing guitar's in the heavenly choir today what a homecoming. Rest in peace Brother we love you.
