Obituary of Darrin Harmon
Darrin (DEEZ) Harmon passed away surrounded by family on June 16th, 2020; in Odenton, Maryland. Darrin was born August 6th, 1966 to parents Mack A. Harmon Sr. and Rita Harmon of Kinder, LA. He was Christened and Baptized at St. John Baptist Church in Kinder, LA; he carried his strong faith and love for God throughout his life. Darrin served as a Deacon at Starlight Baptist Church in Kinder, LA he also served as Deacon at United Believers Community Church in Kansas City, MO. Darrin will be remembered and cherished as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, godparent, and the list could go on “Ain’t No Question” he was a loved man. He was known for his pranks; he was a true prankster. Pranks were not the only thing Darrin enjoyed, he was a true H.O.G, his Harley Davidson was a pride and joy. Darrin was a Ride or Die biker, a Dallas Cowboy fan, Cajun Cook, cake baker, golfer, traveler, prankster, and above all else a true man of God. He leaves behind a legacy to be cherished and honored by all that knew and loved him.
D. J. Harmon began his career with the Bureau of Prisons in 1992 as a Correctional Officer at FCC Oakdale. He served in positions of increasing responsibility, including Lieutenant at FCI Petersburg, VA, and Texarkana, TX; Correctional Services Specialist for the North Central Regional Office, KS; Captain at FCI Greenville, IL, and USP Florence, CO; Associate Warden at FCI Beckley, WV, and FCC Beaumont, TX. He also served as Deputy Regional Director for the South Central Region, TX, and later as Warden at FCI Seagoville, TX, and USP Atlanta, GA. Mr. Harmon became the Regional Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region on February 3, 2019, and oversaw the operations of 21 Bureau of Prisons facilities, including two medical centers and four high-security penitentiaries.
Those left to cherish, honor, and mourn the loss of Darrin Harmon is his wife of 34 years Lisa Bushnell Harmon, Odenton, MD. His two daughters Felicia Richardson and husband Brandon of Iowa, LA, Renesha Robinson, and husband Junius Jr. of Iowa, LA; three grandchildren Mackenzie Richardson, Kira Robinson, and Arianna all of Iowa, LA. His parents Mack A. Harmon Sr. and Rita M. Harmon of Kinder, LA and four siblings Christopher M. Harmon and wife Shirley of Monroe, LA; Mack A. Harmon Jr. and wife Ilona of Newark, NJ; Marshall L. Harmon and wife Elizabeth of Kinder, LA and Yolanda R, Harmon of Lake Charles, LA. Mother in law Alichia Bushnell and late husband Robert Bushnell of Kinder, LA; Brother in Law Robert W. Bushnell of Kinder,LA; God -Father James Harmon of Kinder, LA; godchildren Chris Seemion of Austin, TX; Sharenda Morehead of Iowa, LA, and Johnathon Goodly of Kinder, LA; Ka'Desia Harmon of Kinder, LA and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Darrin is preceded in death by his grandparents Joshua and Cinderella Harmon of Oberlin, LA, and Willie and Retha Guillory of Oberlin, LA; God- Mother Tina Harmon of Kinder, LA; Father in Law Robert Bushnell of Kinder, LA.
Mr. Harmon will be greatly missed by all who knew him; especially those Bureau staff whose lives he impacted in a positive way. He demonstrated his commitment to excellence and his leadership abilities throughout his career and he will be fondly remembered for his many contributions to the Bureau.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 26th, 2020, from 5 PM - 9 PM and Saturday, June 27th from 8 AM - 11 AM at Reed Funeral Home. Funeral services will be by invitation, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the service will be live streamed through the Reed Funeral Home Facebook page for those unable to attend services, the live stream will begin Saturday, June 27th, 2020 at 11 AM.
