My sincere condolences to Carl's family.
Carl is the first childhood friend I can remember by name. I lived not far from Carl in LaBlanc when 6 - 8 years old before moving away and losing contact with Carl. I remember our fun times together playing on the huge saw dust "mountain" from the nearby sawmill, fishing in the mule pond watering hole and other forbidden (but fun) activities. I remember Carl having somewhat impaired sight as a child and after he got glasses we were laying in his yard one day, when he notice the electrical wires overhead and asked when they had been put there. First time he could see them.
Then one item from Carl days has stayed with me lifelong . He had me in for lunch one day not too long after we met and it was delicious! I went home telling my Mom how much I liked "fluffy beans". Well, that term mean nothing to mother until one day she asked Carl's mother about it and they finally figured out I mean dried lima beans. So "fluffy" beans have forever been on my dinning menu since Carl introduced me to them.
Go in peace and with the love of your family, my ole friend. Save me a place by the mule pond.
You Friend
