Obituary of Wayne Prater

Wayne "Abe" Prater April 8, 1945 November 12, 2013 Kinder- Wayne "Abe" Prater, 68, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013. He was a resident of Kinder. Abe owned and operated several businesses throughout his life. He was a master electrician and he used his trade to service the people of Kinder. Every year for President's Day, Abe was proud to be an Abraham Lincoln impersonator for Coushatta Casino Resort. Abe loved to entertain people of all ages and he was an avid domino player, but most of all, he was a devoted and loyal husband. He will be missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Hazel "Nell" Prater; son, Robert Bertrand of Lake Charles; four brothers, Albert Prater and wife Carol of Lake Charles, Huey Prater and wife Zita of Dallas, TX, John Wendell Prater and wife Melba of Baton Rouge; Fritz Prater and wife Judy of Colorado Springs, CO; two sisters, Charlotte Prater of San Jose, CA and Melissa Richardson and husband Michael of Carlyss; brother-in-law, Tucker Jones of Laronger; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Etta Sullivan Prater; son, Ronald Bertrand and brother, Mark Charles Prater. Memorial service will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 1:30PM at Reed Funeral Home. Rev. John Nichols will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 10AM until time of service.
