Obituary of Chester Braxton

Chester Braxton, of Kinder, LA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was born on November 27, 1946, to Jasper Braxton and Connie Hockrider Braxton. A native of Oberlin, LA he resided in Kinder, LA for the past 44 years. He graduated from Carver High School. Chester was the Town Superintendent, employed with the Town of Kinder for 42 years. He was fully committed to meeting the needs of the people in the community. He served on the Allen Action Agency Board of Directors. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kinder Chamber of Commerce in 2018. He attended Kinder Church of Christ and loved spending time with his family and hanging with friends. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, BBQing, listening to music, and watching westerns. He is survived by his wife Shirley Citizen Braxton; loving daughters Selena Terry Braxton of Oakdale, LA and Amanda Braxton of Houston, TX; sisters Bobbie Prevost of Port Arthur, TX and Linda Thompson of Oberlin, LA; brothers Charles Braxton (Piper), of Oberlin, LA, Alvin Peters Sr. (Margaret) of DeRidder, LA, and Donald Braxton (Caroline) of Oberlin, LA; grandchildren Tatiana Terry, Reginesha and Savannah Jackson and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Connie Braxton; brothers Andrew Braxton, Jimmy Braxton, Warney Braxton, Larry Braxton and sister Fannie Cole. His funeral will be at 2pm on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at Reed Funeral Home in Kinder, LA. Rev. Wallace Bellard, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Kinder, LA. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at 10am until the start of the service.
