Obituary of Oma Jean Bushnell

Oma Jean Bushnell April 17, 1932 November 23, 2021 Kinder – Oma Jean Bushnell, 89, of Kinder passed away November 23, 2021, surrounded by her family and special friends. She was a devoted wife for 73 years, a beloved mother, an exceptional homemaker, wonderful seamstress and a great cook. Jean was the best Mimi to her grandchildren and many others. She taught Sunday school with her sister, Shirley, for 32 years to the 4–5-year-old class. Her sewing consisted of men’s suits, wedding dresses, baby smocking and everything in between. She loved reading, crocheting, but most of all visiting with those she loved. Her home was a sanctuary and a happy place for anyone to come and coffee was always served. She was a mentor to many young ladies and to young married couples. Her life’s goal was to serve the Lord and teach others of His love. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband: Chester Bushnell of Kinder, LA. Son: Gerald (Joyce) Bushnell of St. Joseph, MI. Daughter: Danna Erickson from St. Paul, MN. Grandchildren: Marleigh (Marty) Francois of Hazelwood, MO, Heather (Michael) McKinnies of St. Joseph, MI, Steven (Jill) Erickson of St. Paul, MN, Angela Erickson of St. Paul, MN, very special niece Becky Langley of Kinder, La. Great grandchildren: Ada Francois, Austin (Savannah) Francois, Mariah-Joy and Roman Francois, Vinny (Lena) Francois, Caroline, Trey, Myles and Katharine McKinnies, Kara, Nora, Emma Frykman, Great nieces: Chelsea, Anzley and Kenzley Langley. Foster grandkids Samantha (Jeremy) Roe, Emily (John) Nance. Great-great grandchildren Zoiee, Pheonix, Owen and Henry Francois. She wanted special acknowledgement to her dear friend Peggy Austin for always checking in on her and to her other dear friend Vida Whitaker for her dear friendship. She was preceded in death by her Parents: Wesley and Clemmie Duhon, Father and Mother-in-law: Roman and Elizabeth Bushnell, Sister: Shirley (Horace) Baggett, Son-in-Law: Robert Erickson. Visitation will be at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder on Friday, November 26, 2021, at 10 am. Funeral service will be immediately following visitation at 1 PM with Reverend Gerald Bushnell and Reverend Jimmy White officiating. Internment at Green Oak Cemetery.
