Kinder– Randy J. Savant, 61, of Kinder, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 26, 1960, in Kinder, LA, to the late Bernice and Harrison Savant.
Randy grew up in Indian Village, he enjoyed horseback riding with his many cousins and the showing of his bulls for FFA. He was employed as a skilled painter at local industries in Lake Charles. Randy volunteered in the rice fields helping his family with harvest time.
Randy met Charlene Benoit, the love of his life. They were married on December 15, 1990. They have two children who worshipped their daddy, spending endless hours together. They enjoyed vacations to the mountains or the east coast. Randy was very involved in their lives. His favorite time was time spent with his family. He had a great love for the outdoors, hunting, gardening and even carpentry. Randy began his own business in the Kinder area, “Savant’s Lawn Service”. All his family backed him up, aiding and assisting him when the weather prevailed. Randy loved visiting with his family, his extended family, and his friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knows him.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Charlene Benoit Savant of 31 years, his daughter Emily Cole and husband Quinn; son, Chance Savant, Adoptive nieces Jessica and Dannie Benoit. Randy was blessed with a grandson Wyatt Cole, who adored his “Pops”.
Randy’s survivors include his sisters Chris Reon and husband Joe of Iowa, Pat Broussard and husband Burt, Traci Kent and husband Reagan; brother Todd Savant all of Kinder. He has many nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Randy.
Preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Bernice Savant and a brother Ronnie Savant.
Funeral service will be held Monday, November 22,2021, at 10 AM in Reed Funeral Home of Kinder, LA. Deacon Roy Nash will officiate. Burial will follow in Indian village Cemetery under the direction of Reed Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Reed Funeral Home from 5PM to 8PM, with a vigil followed by a rosary at 6PM. Visitation will continue Monday, November 22, 2021, from 8AM until time of service at Reed Funeral Home.
The family extends appreciation and thanks to Bernard Marcantel, Randy’s lifelong friend and best buddy. Many thanks to Dr. Broussard and Dr. Lacey from Memorial Hospital and the Heart of Hospice.
