Obituary of Edwin Marcantel

Edwin Marcantel January 11, 1947 July 22, 2013 Edwin Marcantel,66, formerly of Welsh, LA passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am Friday, August 9, 2013 at Our Lady of Seven Dolars Catholic Church in Welsh, La. Burial will follow at the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be in the Hixson Funeral Home in Welsh on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary and prayer service at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume Friday morning at 8:00 until the time of the service. Ed retired from the US Air Force after 26 years of service to our country. He received numerous meritorious awards and medals throughout his career including a bronze star from Desert Shield for his outstanding leadership. Edwin is survived by 2 sons, Christopher Marcantel of Coventry, Connecticut and Jonathan (Elizabeth) Marcantel of Charleston, South Carolina; 2 grandchildren, KaLynne Marcantel and Ian Marcantel. Also left to cherish his memories are his brothers and sisters; D.J Marcantel, Rodney Marcantel, Ron Marcantel, Kathy Haas, and Teresa Marcantel. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; Belle and Dulvas Marcantel and sister-in-law Rebecca Bragg Marcantel. The family would like to thank the Intensive Care Unit of Wacammaw Community Hospital in Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina for the excellent and compassionate care given to Edwin and his family.
