Obituary of Ila Fontenot

Kinder- Ila Belle LaBuff Fontenot, 87, passed away August 8, 2013 in her home. She was born August 14, 1925 to Harold Charles LaBuff and Ettie Evelyn Horn LaBuff and raised at the Bessie Hotel of Kinder, which was owned and operated by her parents. She was a graduate of Kinder High School. She was a devoted wife to the late Edward Fontenot for 66 years. Mrs. Fontenot was a faithful member of Kinder Bible Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School and the Ladies Aid Class for many years. She was a teacher of vacation bible school classes many summers at the Kinder Bible Church and the Coushatta Indian Bible Church of Elton. She served as a volunteer counselor many years at Camp Pearl in Reeves, LA. She, also, taught the Good News Club, an afternoon bible class for elementary school age children. She is survived by five children, Wileen Brumley of Kinder; Bob Fontenot and wife Emily of Frankston, TX; Drew Fontenot and wife Juanita of Kinder; Marietta Jemison and husband Randy of Kinder; and Wendy Atkinson and husband Mark of Baker, LA, two brothers, Jack LaBuff of Keel Devils Hill, North Carolina and Jimmy LaBuff of Kinder; 18 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Mrs. Fontenot is preceded in death by her husband Edward Fontenot and a brother Franklin D. LaBuff. Funeral will be Saturday, August 17, 2013, at the Kinder Bible Church, Kinder, LA at 3pm. Visitation will be held from 10 am until the service begins. Reverend Don Barrett will officiate. Burial will follow at the Carter Cemetery, Kinder, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Camp Pearl Ministries P. O. Box 10 Reeves, LA 70658. The family would like to extend special thanks to Jessica Ardoin, Priscilla Mayfield and the rest of the staff at Brighton Bridge Hospice.
