Roos was raised in the small town of Lawtell, LA. His early years were spent in the field raising crop and livestock. From the age of 25 – 65, he carried out his career as a shop foreman and service manager for John Deere. He married Jeanette Roy Miller, with whom he had his four children. He was an active member in Kingsfarm United Pentecostal Church.
He loved to deer hunt, fish, and work in his garden and shop. He found pride in buying and restoring antique cars – His favorite being the 1931 Model A. He wore many hats; he was a mechanic, carpenter, electrician, builder, repairman, and musician. He could do it all.
Roos was a family man. Better known as Daddy, Papaw, Grandpaw, and Poppa Roos he never batted an eye at the opportunity to spend time with family. He was the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grand father. He enjoyed spending his afternoons drinking coffee with his long-time best friend, Larry Holeman and daughter Kathy Reeves.
After the passing of his first wife, Jeanette, he met and married Sharon. She filled his final 14 years of life with adventure, travel, and true love. She kept him well – fed and was an excellent caregiver through the end.
Roos will be remembered by family and friends for his faith in God, his work ethic and constant willingness to help others. He never met a stranger. His contagious laugh, smile, big personality with a big kind heart to match, and bright smile are irreplaceable. We will forever miss the sound of his voice and his Cajun accent.
The family would like to give thanks to his caregivers: CNAs, Veronica and Melissa; nurses, Nichole, Brandy, Linzy, Carla, and Anna; social worker, Vicky; Chaplains Greg Willis and Don; Brighton Bridge Hospice and Dr. Matthew Courville.
