Obituary of Della Mercer

Della Mercer March 16, 1935 February 6, 2021 Reeves– Della Mercer, 85, of Reeves, passed from this life into heaven on February 6, 2021. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dudley Mercer. Mrs. Mercer was born on March 16, 1935, to James Marion and Eudora Reeves. She grew up in the Barnes Creek area with brothers Jennings, Herman, Oliver, Ray, Eugene, Oscar and Mancel; and sisters Pearl and Bonnie. As a child she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized into the family of God. After Mrs. Mercer’s marriage to her Air Force husband, Dudley, she lived in various posts across the country. The couple raised four children and made many lifelong friends. Following retirement the Mercers settled in Dry Creek where they faithfully served their Lord at Dry Creek Baptist Church for decades. Della Mercer is survived by her children; James (Martha) Mercer, John (Pamela) Mercer, Jean (Jeff) Markway, and Judy (Tony) Davis; nine grandchildren; Adam Mercer, Jamie Mercer Streit, Erin Mercer Fruge, Jake Markway, Stacie Davis Miller, Troy Mercer, Jenna Markway Guillory, Jed Markway, and Gabram Davis; 29 great-grandchildren; brother Ray Reeves and sisters Pearl Airhart and Bonnie Price; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Mercer; and her parents. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 8, 2021, at 12 PM in Dry Creek Baptist Church in Dry Creek. Reverend John Gray will be officiating. Burial will follow in Dry Creek Cemetery under the direction of Reed Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Dry Creek Baptist Church Monday, February 8, 2021 from 10 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Dry Creek Baptist Camp or Camp Pearl.
