Jessie Allen Lanier Sattler

Jessie Sattler, 86, passed away Saturday, January 9. 2021 in her daughter's home in
Austin, Texas. Her daughter, Kathi, and grandson, Timothy, were by her side. Jessie was born
February, 1, 1934 and reared in Elton, LA. She attended Elton High School and earned her High School diploma through the G E D Program. Later in life she attended McNeese State University and earned a B.A. Degree and M.Ed in Elementary Education. She taught 2nd grade at Kinder Elementary for 29 years. Following her retirement from Allen Parish School Board, she was employed by the Grand Coushatta Casino as one of the GED teachers. During her tenure there, she assisted many Coushatta Casino employees in attaining their GED. One of her greatest joys was teaching. She loved her students and felt fulfillment watching them learn and grow. She loved to read and encouraged others to read. Her gift of cooking and her fun-loving smile made holidays and get-togethers very special times for family and friends. Also, her dogs and cats were well fed and loved. Jessie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She especially enjoyed her role as “Maw Maw”. She loved music. Her all-time favorite artist was George Jones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathi Lanier Rye of Austin, Texas, Sonni Bentley (Dale) of Lake Charles, grandsons Mark Bentley (Erin) of Lake Charles and Timothy Rye II ( Sarah) of Austin, Texas, great-grandchildren, Charis Bentley, Timothy Rye III “Trey”, Blythe Bentley, Amelie Bentley, Spencer Rye and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jessie was preceded in death by her parents, John “Jack” and Florence (Manuel) Allen, her husband and father of her children; Everett Leo Lanier, her husband Lubert “Lou” Sattler, sisters; Gloria Jane Allen and Sherry Allen Laird and brother, John Allen, Jr and son -in-law Dale Bentley.
A Funeral service will be held at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder at 1 PM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021 with Rev. Don Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Carter Memorial. Visitation will begin Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 10AM to 1PM. Family requests you to wear a mask, and for those who do not want to be approached, there will be provided a separate seating area for waves, virtual hugs and kisses. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kinder Bible Church in Kinder, LA. or to the organization special to you.
