Obituary of Dorothy L White

Dorothy L. White August 2, 1937 October 2, 2020 Kinder- Dorothy L. “Dot” White, 83, of Kinder passed away on October 2, 2020. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and an officer, also a member of the Ladies Alter Society for Sacred Heart and a Eucharistic Minister; a recipient of the Maple Leaf award from the diocese of Lake Charles in October 2019. Mrs. Dot taught CCD in her home and led the Way of the Cross at Sacred Heart Catholic Chapel in Indian Village for many years. She made and hand embroidered Baptismal bibs for St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, as well as being the talented seamstress for the Kinder community, she also organized and administered The Sweet Shop for St. Philip Neri Catholic Church since its inception. Mrs. Dot’s lemon & coconut pies were everyone’s favorite and always requested. Cooking for large family gatherings brought her great joy and each new baby started a sewing frenzy! Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Lee L. White, 6 beautiful daughters; Bethany Courville and husband Kenny Sr. of Kinder, LA., Kathie Byrley and husband Chris of Sulphur, LA., Carla Gingras and husband Leo of Kinder, LA., Sharon White of Kinder, LA., Paula Tarver and husband Cass of Buna, TX., Amy White Langley of Scottsdale, AZ., 15 grandchildren; Kenney Courville II and wife Dana, Kelli Vincent and husband Terrell, Adam Courville and wife Julia all of Kinder, LA., Senia Fontenot and wife Skylar of Lake Charles, LA., Derek Fontenot and wife Erika of Moss Bluff, LA., Diane Fontenot of Sulphur, LA., Gerry Gingras and wife Kelly, Steven Gingras and wife Julie of Jonesboro, AR., Emily Olivier and husband Alex of Kinder, LA., Forrest Courville and fiancé Sadia of Ragley, LA., Alex Courville and wife Kaitlynn of Elton, LA., Danielle Alexander and husband Kenneth of Baltimore, MD., Jacob Tarver of Buna, TX., Logan Langley of Sherman, TX., Sarah Langley of Scottsdale, AZ., 29 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Preceded in death by her parents; Euric and Zelma Fontenot Savant, Granddaughter; Allison Fontenot, Sisters; Anna Bushnell, Lela Pounds, Leora LeDoux, Lolo Duplechin, Brothers; Louis, Wilson, Harrison, Clifford, Wilmer, Wallace, Hoover and Bill Savant. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Monday, October 5, 2020, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church with Father Whitney Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Indian Village Cemetery in Kinder, LA. Visitation will be held at Reed Funeral Home, Sunday, October 4, 2020 from 5 PM – 7 PM, with a rosary at 6 PM.
