Henry Luther Pickett, 90, passed away August 5, 2020, in his family home in Elton, LA. Henry will be remembered and cherished as a loving husband and father. He had a strong faith in God. He raised six children with his wife, Anna Mae Granger Pickett to whom he had been married to for 62 years. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great grandchildren as he had more time to spend with them. His hobbies included playing bingo, gardening, making homemade sausage and boudin, repairing antique furniture, and making wood art. He worked in road construction, operated heavy equipment and drove trucks. He was a member of the Sons of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Elton, LA. and a honorary member of the Ladies’ Altar Society for his unfailing assistance with their pie sales. He served on the Cemetery Group, was an Usher and Greeter at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Elton, LA. until he was no longer physically able to do so. Bishop Glen John Provost awarded Henry the Devoted Service Medal in recognition of the service he rendered to his church parish. He was also a member of the St. Lawrence Knights of Columbus Council 4787 in Hathaway, LA., American Legion Post 318, and Disabled American veterans Group of Eunice. He will be deeply missed and always remembered by those who knew and loved him.

His wife, Anna Mae Granger Pickett of Elton, LA.; daughters, Melissa Pickett of Elton, LA.; Rose Mary Cormier and husband Felton Cormier, Jr. of Jennings, LA. sons, Charles Pickett of Basile, LA., Jeffery Pickett and wife Sonya of Carencro, LA., Hiram Pickett and wife Shely Pickett of Jasper, TX., sisters, Addie Mae Pickett Milligan of Bunkie LA., Beatrice Pickett Langley of Basile, LA. and Annie Lee Pickett LaBouve of Basile, LA.; brother, Jerry Lee Pickett of San Antonio, TX.; 13 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Michael J. Pickett; Miranda Pickett; his parents, Shelton Henry and Mattie Fuselier Pickett; sister, Azora Louise Pickett Adams; brothers, Lonie D. Pickett, Bobby Pickett, John F. Pickett, Rodney Lee, Shelton P. Pickett, Charles Lee Pickett, Earl Lee Pickett, Robert Pickett, Harold Pickett, and Marion Pickett

Funeral services will be held at 2p at Reed Funeral Home in Kinder, LA. Deacon Michael Guillory will officiate. Burial will follow in New St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Visitation will be held for Henry Luther Pickett on Saturday August 8, 2020 from 9a until time of service with an 11a rosary.
