Obituary of Calvin Delafoisse

Calvin Delafoisse April 17, 1935 – December 22, 2019 Kinder- Calvin Delafoisse, 84 years old, was born on April 17, 1935 in Duralde, LA. He was the son of the late Victor and Angelina Delafoisse-Fontenot. Calvin Delafoisse went home to be with the Lord Sunday, December 22, 2019. He was an employee at Cash & Carry in Kinder, LA for at least seventeen years and the Kinder Super Market for a brief period of time. Calvin was a member of Greater First Baptist Church of Kinder, LA until his marriage to his second wife, on December 20, 1963. At that time he became a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder, until his death. Survivors include his eight children: Debbie Johnson-Houston (Fred) of Lake Charles, LA; Barbara Harrison (Randy) of Lake Charles, LA; Gary Keith Delafoisse of Bossier City, LA; Michael Delafoisse (Lisa) of Kinder, LA; Del Delafoisse (LeTam) of Schertz, TX; Pattie Delafoisse of Kinder, LA; Apostle Shelly Dugas (Pastor Darrell) of Lake Charles, LA; Marc Delafoisse (Teri) of Columbus, MS and one sister Cassie Fontenot of Kinder, LA. Calvin leaves twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren, one God son Geno Delafose of Eunice, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife of six years, Mary Jane Johnson Delafoisse and his second wife of thirty-four years, Letha Mae DeVille Delafoisse; one son, Daryl Charles Delafoisse; two sisters, Emma Lou Jack and Leanna Delafoisse. Also two brothers, John and Junius Delafose. Visitation will be held Saturday January 4, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Reed Funeral Home, 315 North 14th Street, Kinder. A Rosary will be held Saturday January 4, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 604 4th Avenue, Kinder on Saturday January 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Reed Funeral Home.
