Obituary of Irma Jean Hurst Jones

Oakdale- Irma Hurst Jones, 65, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Jena, La.  She was a resident of Oakdale, who loved spending time with family and friends, fishing and walking. Mrs. Irma was a member of New Hope Ministries of Oakdale where she enjoyed praising the Lord, praying and singing while encouraging the youth and the elderly.

   She is survived by her husband, Sam Jones Jr.; children, Victoria Hurst Bracy and husband Markus of Oakdale, LA, Anthony Hurst of Fort Worth, TX, Jerald Ray Hurst of New Orleans, LA; step children, Catrinia Jones of Fairfield, CA, Justin Jones of Vicksburg, MS; siblings, Brenda Thomas and husband Donald of Kinder, LA, Western Chester Hurst Jr. of Oakdale, LA; grandchildren, Crystal Reshe’ Hurst of Alexandria, LA, Angel Chanell Bracy of Oakdale, LA; step grandchildren, Lionel Goudeau Jr. of Fairfield, CA,  and Lanitaa Goudeau of Fairfield, CA; nieces and nephews, Taurean Jamal Hurst of Oakdale, Reginald James Artis and wife Vatsana of Kinder, LA; great nieces and nephews, Kaleb Leday of Lake Charles, LA, Christian Khammany of Kinder, LA, and Lexie Artis of Kinder, LA; In Laws Esau and Kathy Jones of Houston, Tx., Willie and Johnnie Jones of Houston, Patricia Thomas of Houston, Myrtle Jones of Ferriday, La and a host of family and friends.

   A celebration of Life will be held at 11AM Saturday June 29, 2019 in New Hope Ministries of Oakdale 913 Scotts St. Oakdale, La. 71463. Minister Donald Thomas and Pastor Rufus Trevillion, Sr will officiate. Burial will follow in Glenmora Community Cemetery in Glenmora, La. Visitation will be at New Hope Ministries of Oakdale and will begin Saturday at 9:00 AM until time of service. The repass will follow the burial at New Hope Ministries in Oakdale.

   Active pallbearers are Anthony Hurst, Richard Williams, Tavares Charles, Markus Bracy, Reginald Artis, and Donald Solomon.

   Honorary pallbearers are Chris Waller, Jerald Hurst, and Western Chester Hurst Jr.
