Katherine “Kathy” Myers

Kinder- Katherine “Kathy” Myers, 83, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019. She was a resident of Kinder. Kathy was born on April 4, 1935 in the Republic of Panama and spent her childhood years near the Panama Canal.

                Kathy was a graduate of Balboa High School and a graduate of SLI now the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Kathy was employed as a Kindergarten teacher at Kinder Elementary and later a teacher and Education Coordinator for Allen Action Agency Head Start Program. Kathy and her late husband Herb were Founders of the Louisiana Junior Brahman Association.

She is survived by her two sons, Randy Myers of Houston, TX, Michael Myers and wife Sandra of Poolville, TX; four grandchildren, Lance Myers, April Micheau, Hannah Myers, and Taylor Myers; sister, Jeannine Wilder of Guntersville, Alabama; sister-in-law, Freida Ringuet of Jennings.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herb Myers; son, Don Eric; sister, Mary Hilden.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at 11AM. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow at Carter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder from 4PM-9PM with a vigil service at 6PM and a rosary will follow. Visitation will continue Monday at 8AM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to charity of choice or St. Vincent’s Closet.
