Kinder- Mr. Elmer Doise, 88, of Kinder passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 21, 1930. Elmer was a graduate of Elton High School and served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He was an entrepreneur with multiple businesses including Doise Concrete Works, Kinder Ford Dealership, and Doise Chevrolet. He was responsible for Louisiana adopting the use of mechanical sewer systems for home use. Elmer and his wife enjoyed traveling the world by various means including using his own planes, houseboat, and RV. He also enjoyed adopting new technologies. Other hobbies include playing cards, reading, puzzles, and listening to music. Elmer was a member and usher of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 40&8, VFW, National Concrete Association, National Automobile Dealers Association, Kinder Athletic Association, and served on the Allen Parish Hospital Board.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Miller Doise; son, Hollis Doise; brother, Elery Doise; parents, Jasper and Evelia Doise.
Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Jacquella Manuel of Kinder, Claudean Moss of Lake Charles; son, Tom Doise and wife Diane of Baton Rouge; brother, Schelly Doise of Youngsville; sister, Bethel Daugereaux of Elton; six grandchildren, Stacy Hebert and husband Joe, Kayla Davis and husband Jason all of Kinder, Dr. Matthew Moss and wife Charlotte of Jackson, MS, Dr. Brent Moss and wife Olivia of Chattanooga, TN, Laurel Jenkins of Covington and Beau Moss of New Orleans; five great grandchildren, Kyle Hebert, Brandt Hebert, Ross Hebert, Hollis Davis and Cohen Davis all of Kinder.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Carter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder from 5PM-9PM with a vigil service at 6:30PM and a rosary will follow. Visitation will continue Friday at 8AM until time of service.
