Kinder- Mrs. Elena M. Phillips, 68, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018. She was a native of Saipan, Marianas Island and a resident of Kinder. Elena enjoyed sewing and drawing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. Elena will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 36 years, William “Bill” Phillips; six children, Patrick B. Phillips of Kinder, Melvin C. Gillard of Kinder, Fernest “Joe” Gillard IV and wife Dana of Kinder, Sean M. Gillard and companion Sarah of Kinder, Theresa M. Gillard of Kinder, Rebecca A. Maderozza and husband Giro of Medford, Oregon; seven surviving siblings, Lucia Matagolai Salas of OK, Jesus Sablan of WA, Rita Matagolai of WA, Maria Matagolai Arriola of Guam, Francisco Matagolai of Killeen, TX, Danita Matagolai of Guam, and Alex Matagolai of Guam; 14 grandchildren and 2 great granchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, Joaquin and Maria Matagolai.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 1PM at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder. Deacon Roy Nash will officiate. Burial will follow in Carter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday from 10AM until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 11AM.
