Kinder- John Daniel Bertrand Jr., 71, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Iota and a resident of Iowa. John was an Army Veteran. He served our country during the Vietnam War from 1967 and was honorably discharged in December of 1969. John enjoyed watching LSU and the Saints. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Wanda L. Bertrand; two children, Francine Marie Guidry and husband Terry of Lake Charles and Wayne Daniel Bertrand of Iowa; two brothers, Quillan James Bertrand and wife Tonya of Iota and Lionel Joseph Bertrand of Iota; three grandchildren, Casey Ryan Bertrand and wife Kaley of Holmwood, Kassie Nichole Bertrand of Lake Charles, and Hunter Bertrand of Kinder; two great grandchildren, ILeigh Marie Bertrand, and Cooper Ryan Bertrand; A host of nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Carter Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Thursday from 8:30AM until time of service at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. A rosary will be prayed at 9:30AM.
