Joseph Orville Augustine

Kinder- Mr. Joseph Orville Augustine, 84, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Fenton and a resident of Kinder. Mr. Orville retired as a Forestry Technician from the International Paper Company and he was a faithful member of St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church. He sang in the Catholic Church choir for over 60 years in Fenton and in Kinder. Mr. Orville was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a home bound Eucharistic Minister and usher for many years. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department where he served as secretary for many years, and he was a lifetime member of The Knights of Columbus. In his younger years he was a Bible History Teacher.  Mr. Orville was the Louisiana High School State Rodeo Bull Riding Champion in 1954.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed crawfishing on the family farm. He also enjoyed making popcorn balls. Mr. Orville was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved spending time with his family and cooking Sunday meals. Mr. Orville will be deeply missed by many.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jan Augustine; five children, Monica Duplechin and husband Gary of Kinder, Susanne Sonnier and husband Ricky of Kinder, Ken Augustine and wife Katherine of Kinder, Rosemary Bruchhaus and husband Errol “Boo” of Kinder, Louis Paul Augustine and companion Austin of Iowa; three sisters, Carol Denison of Iowa, Vida LeBleu of LeBleu Settlement and Jean Duplichan; 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. McKinley Augustine; son, John Jude Augustine; siblings, Bennet Augustine, Jerry Augustine, Phillip Augustine, Eula Mae Sharp, and Steve Menard.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, November 2, 2018 at 11AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow at Carter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday at Reed Funeral Home from 5PM-9PM with a rosary at 7:30PM and a Vigil service at 8PM. Visitation will continue Friday at 8AM until time of service.
