Elton-Ms. Iona May Shuff, 89, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Elton. Ms. Iona was also a lifelong Parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church where she sang in the Choir, and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She loved family gatherings, gardening, music, dancing and feeding the hummingbirds. She was devoted to her faith and family. Ms. Iona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by many.
She is survived by six loving children, Carol S. Briscoe and husband John of Elton, Jacob J. Shuff and wife Diana of Elton, James Roy Shuff and wife Brenda of Oakdale, Danny L. Shuff and wife Honey of Reeves, Debora S. LaFleur and husband Bobby of Carencro, Danita Sue S. Manuel and husband Kent of Sulphur; daughter-in-law, Dianna Shuff of Elton; three siblings, Harold LaFleur of Lake Charles, Ruby Malone of Moss Bluff, and Richard LaFleur of Lake Charles; 32 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Iona was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, William “Bolo” Shuff Jr.; son, Charles Wayne Shuff; grandson, Mark Anthony Briscoe II; granddaughter, Mariah Bazinet; great grandson, Zackary Briscoe; parents, Amos and Annie LaFleur; two siblings, Irene Seymour and Herman LaFleur.
Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 11AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elton. Father Jose and Deacon Michael Guillory will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery in Elton. Visitation will begin Wednesday at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder from 4PM-9PM with a rosary prayed at 6:30PM. Visitation will continue Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 9AM until time of service.
