Kinder- Mr. Columbus Goodly, 85, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  He was a lifelong resident of Kinder and a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Mr. Columbus helped build his church where he was a Deacon for over 50 years. He was strong in his faith and loved his Lord. Many people knew Mr. Columbus from his joy of gardening and farming. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Columbus lived a long fulfilling life and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Poullard Goodly; six children, Katheryn G. Simmons of Kinder, Frederick Goodly of Kinder, Patricia Brandon and husband Earl Brandon Sr. of Harvey, Patsy G. Woods and husband Jackie Woods of Elton, Cindy D. Guillory and husband Randy Guillory of Lake Charles, Windy W. Goodly and wife Cathy of Reeves; four brothers, Raymond Goodly of Mamou, John Goodly of Iowa, Obery Goodly of Kinder, and Wilfred Goodly of Vinton; sister, Loraine Thomas of Mamou; 23 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 11AM at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Pastor Arnold Wykoff will officiate. Burial will follow at Goodly Cemetery in Soileau. Visitation will begin Saturday at the Church from 8AM until time of service. Fellowship will continue at Reed Funeral Home Fellowship Hall.
