Kinder- Mr. Ricky LaPoint, 65, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017. He was a native of Kinder and a resident of Iowa. Ricky was a retired Longshoreman with Local 2047 and he enjoyed being a mail carrier for Iowa.  He also enjoyed fishing, cooking, and dancing. Ricky especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Lexi. He was a fun loving caregiver and he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his three sons, Bryant LaPoint of New Orleans, Michael LaPoint of Iowa, and Jeremy LaPoint of Iowa; his mother, Thelma LaPoint of Kinder; five brothers, Roderick LaPoint of Reeves, Rodney LaPoint of Reeves, Ronald LaPoint of Cypress, TX, Randy LaPoint of Reeves, Tom LaPoint of Moss Bluff; four sisters, Rita LaFargue of Reeves, Roxanne Butts of Reeves, Rhonda LaPoint of Kinder, Mary LaPoint of Kinder; granddaughter, Lexi LaPoint.
He is preceded in death by his son, Ben LaPoint; father, Frederick LaPoint Sr. and his brother, Frederick LaPoint Jr.
Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder from 3PM-9PM with a vigil service a 6PM and a rosary will follow. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8AM until time of service.
