Kinder- Mr. Jerry J. Marcantel, 77, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017. He was a native of Oberlin and a lifelong resident of Kinder. Mr. Jerry enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. He was known for his whistle. Mr. Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and nonk to many. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Jane Marcantel; three daughters, Kathy Marcantel Cole and husband Vernon “Brud”, Belinda Marcantel Kinkelaar and husband Casey, Mary “Poogie” Marcantel Montou and husband Quin all of Kinder; sister, Bobbie Jean Havemann of Houston, TX; six grandchildren, Kevin Cole of Kinder, Marcus Cole of Kinder, Chassidy Fontenot of Basile, Rickey Cormier of Jennings, Quin Montou Jr. of Kinder, Chelsea Montou of Kinder; three great grandchildren, Maddox James Cole, Brick Dagen Fontenot, and Hoyt Randell James Fontenot; a host of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Ann Marcantel; parents, Oleno and Elda Fontenot; three brothers, Higney Marcantel, Elvin Marcantel, and Rolin Marcantel.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10AM at Reed Funeral Home of Kinder. Deacon Roy Nash will officiate. Burial will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday from 3PM-9PM with a rosary at 6PM. Visitation will continue Monday from 8AM until time of service.
