Kinder-Mr. Ercel “Cook” Fontenot, 77, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was a native and resident of Kinder. Cook was a member of Kingsfarm United Pentecostal Church for many years. He enjoyed gardening and dancing. Cook will be remembered for his love for life. He loved to meet new people and always had time to visit. Cook will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his four children, Roland Joseph Bushnell of Kinder, Max Fontenot and wife Connie of Athens, PA, Minnie Ruiz and husband Michael of Baton Rouge, Ranelda Cowart and husband Randy of Reeves; two sisters, Wilona Fontenot Henry of Lake Charles and Sharon Fontenot Miller of Kinder; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Lena Fontenot; great granddaughter, Lainey Lee Fontenot; 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral service will be at 11AM Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Kingsfarm United Pentecostal Church. Rev. Steve Haymon, Rev. A.A. Haymon, and Greg “Boo” Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Jessie Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will begin at Kingsfarm United Pentecostal Church Friday, May 5, 2017 from 4PM-9PM and will continue Saturday at 9AM until time of service at the church.
