Obituary of James Joseph Scully

James Joseph Scully September 15, 1978 November 18, 2016 Kinder- James Joseph Scully, 38, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He grew up in Kinder and was a resident of Basile. Scully graduated from Kinder High in 1997. He was currently working for Louisiana Liquid. Besides being an avid LSU fan, he enjoyed to golf, fish, and hunt. Scully loved to cook and socialize with his many friends and he had a special love for music. He enjoyed playing the drums and accordion. Most of all, Scully was a devoted husband, step-father, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by many. Survivors include his loving wife, Ashley Scully; daughter, Raleigh Jenkins; brother, Thomas Scully and wife Sonia of Ville Platte; two step-brothers, Owen T. Scully Jr. and wife Bethany of Kinder, Rawlen J. Scully and wife Karol of Alexandria; four step-sisters, Ann Williams and husband Ronald of Anacoco, Bonnie Scoggins and husband Stacy of TX, Connie Foreman and husband R.J. of Lake Charles, Sheri Portie and husband Damon of Lake Charles; in-laws, Blaine Sr. and Ligia Landreneau of Eunice; brother-in-law, Anthony Landreneau of Marksville; sister-in-law, Kelly Schexnider and husband Ryan of Lafayette; a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Tommy and Rose Scully. Funeral service will be held Monday, November 21, 2016 at 1PM at Reed Funeral Home. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial will follow in Carter Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday at Reed Funeral Home from 1PM and remain open all night until time of service. A vigil will be held at 6PM officiated by Deacon Roy Nash and music by Richard Broussard. A rosary will be prayed following the vigil service.
