Obituary of Emery Joseph LaPoint Jr.

Emery Joseph LaPoint Jr. October 9, 1949 October 19, 2016 Reeves- Mr. Emery Joseph LaPoint Jr., 67, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016. He was born in Kinder and a resident of Reeves. Emery was an Army veteran serving two tours in Vietnam. He enjoyed watching LSU and going to his camp. Emery was devoted to his family. He was a faithful and loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Emery will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Survivors include three children, Shane LaPoint and wife Darla of Iowa, Hope LaPoint of Lake Charles, and Barbara LaPoint of Reeves; four step-children, Lynn Miller and husband Larry of Lake Charles, Robert Rowland and wife Rebecca of Lake Charles, Kayla Reed and husband Larry of Iowa, Richard Rowland and wife Rachel of Moss Bluff; four brothers, Stephen LaPoint of Baton Rouge, Deacon Patrick LaPoint of Sulphur, Peter LaPoint and Paul LaPoint both of Birmingham, Alabama; six sisters, Patsy Taylor of Sulphur, Brenda Vizena of Kinder, Peggy Stanley of Reeves, Phyliss Henry of Reeves, Beckie Primeaux of Creole, and Tina Guillory of Reeves; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Emery Sr. and Eva LaPoint; wife, Dorothy Guillory LaPoint and brother, John LaPoint. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, October 24, 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Kinder McRill Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday at Reed Funeral Home from 4PM-9PM with a rosary at 6PM lead by his brother, Deacon Patrick LaPoint.
