Obituary of Richard Daine Fontenot
Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Rickie” Daine Fontenot, 54, of Pioneer, LA; Will be held 10:00 A.M., Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Darnell United Pentecostal Church, Darnell, LA with Rev. Terry Jordan and Rev. Floyd Hawthorn officiating. A service will also be held, 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 11, 2016 at Indian Village United Pentecostal Church, in Kinder, LA; with Rev. Kevin Cox and Rev. Terry Bushnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Village Cemetery in Kinder, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
Richard “Rickie” Daine Fontenot was born on July 7, 1961 in Kinder, LA and passed away in Darnell, LA on Friday, January 08, 2016. Rickie was an alumni of Reeves High School class of 1979. He was also a retired Pastor of Darnell U.P.C. for 20 years; member of the Louisiana District U.P.C. foreign missions board for 16 years. He served as justice of the peace for Allen Parish for 16 years; small business owner in Kinder, LA;
He is preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Fontenot; sister, Vicki Fontenot Bell; and a niece, Mickella Fontenot
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Janie Chestnut Fontenot; sons, Trevor and Fred Fontenot; daughters, Christina Wilson and husband, Brad; Christina Clark and husband, Gerri Jr.; father, Edward Fontenot of Le Blanc, LA; sister, Mickie Fontenot and husband, Richard; brother-in-law, Joey Bell; 5-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews; A special friend and caregiver, Carlton Langley and Godson, Austin Langley.
Rickie was known for his compassion; he gave Godly wisdom, sound advice and was a role model and mentor to many. His words were always gentle, intentional and full of love and grace. He had a solid faith and deep roots in the Lord that were evident everyday in the way he lived his life, his unwavering love to his family and devotion to his church family could not be questioned. Rickie and his wife have touched the lives of many children throughout 20 years of being foster parents.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruits in its season, and its leaf does not wither, in all he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:3
Memorial Donations can be made to the Louisiana District Foreign Missions Dept.
